Women in Film
Women play an important role in filmmaking and there are many talents out there and to celebrate Women in Film we have two categories. One programme is a focus solely on Women directors, the second programme category will focus the work of women practitioners in the roles of writers, actresses, producers and Directors of Cinematography but please note the film lead roles must be female led. If you have a film that has a strong female led role or strong female writer etc and you want to be considered for this sectin of the festival please submit to the Women Practitioners category. Film Directors should submit to the Women in Film (directors category).
General Information.
Established in 1995 the festival is now in it's 16th International Shorts edition. Kinofilm has a unique reputation for showcasing the best short films from around the world, whilst being renowned for seeking out diverse, challenging and groundbreaking new films. We welcome filmmakers that are pushing the boundaries of the short film art form. The festival maintains a high standard with many European & International award-winning shorts featured in the Festival. It includes special programmes in North West Shorts (UK), British New Wave, Euro Cine, International Panorama, Kino Exposed (student and youth shorts), low/no budget shorts, Animation and various themed programmes, giving new and emerging filmmakers the opportunity to have their work screened alongside that of critically acclaimed, established short filmmakers.
Please note for 2019, the festival will move dates to February 2020. We will further welcome short films and animations from Eastern Europe as we extend the Polish festival to include more Baltic countries. This year we welcome films for this section from Romania and Russia.
As part of out 16th anniversary we are introducing a features section called Transitions for those short filmmakers that have successfully made the transition from short film to feature. This section is for previous entrants of Kinofilm Festival and can only be entered if you have previously had a short film at Kinofilm Festival. You must provide the name of the short film and year of the festival it was screened in advance of submitting..
All short films should have been completed since January 2018 to present and be no longer than 20 mins (accept documentaries which can be up to 23 mins including credits). PLEASE NOTE FILMS SHOULD NOT BE ONLINE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING. ANY FILMS THAT ARE SEEN TO BE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN WILL FACE DISQUALIFICATION.
WE ARE OFFERING STUDENTS (world wide) , GREATER MANCHESTER FILMMAKERS, Youths and community groups, Eastern European Filmmakers and Alumni Filmmakers 20% OF ALL SUBMISSION FEES (please see offers at the top of this entry). The discount is automatically applied when you submit your film to the relevant sections, entry fees start at just $10.00 Please note PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY MUST BE SHOWN in all these categories in advance of submitting the film, you will then receive a code to submit your film.

Please note, if your film is selected for screening in one of the cinema screenings you must be able to provide either a DCP or high-quality Bluray of your film. Please contact us if any issues with this and we will try to resolve it by showing the film in one of the other programmes not requiring either of these formats. If it playing in one of our other venues then we will require a digital version, details supplied if your film is accepted.
REFUNDS GIVEN ONLY IN THE FOLLOWING CIRCUMSTANCES: Please note if you make a genuine mistake and submit your film to us not realising that it does not fit all of the criteria, or you have to withdraw it for other reasons, we will refund your fee if the request is made only within the first two weeks from the date of submission. Films withdrawn later for other reasons such as you wish to withdraw it as your film has been accepted in another festival that requires premier status, will not receive a refund. (Please note that any refunds will be after FFW (8%) and PP (3.5%) commission fees already deducted from your fee, you will only be refunded the net amount that the festival receives).

Urban Lens Film Festival | Bengaluru: 20 – 23 September 2018 | New Delhi: 16 – 18 November 2018
Cities have always been sites of socio-economic, political and cultural churning, and cinema has provided a space to understand and reflect upon these urban experiences. In keeping with its commitment to bringing out multiple, and sometimes contesting narratives that exist around the city, the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) will host the 5th edition of the Urban Lens Film Festival in Bengaluru between 20th and 23rd September, 2018 and in New Delhi between 16th and 18th November, 2018 in association with the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in both cities. As part of a travelling package, a selection of films will also be screened in Mumbai in association with the Godrej India Culture Lab. If your film speaks to the idea of the city and explores urban questions, please do send in your entry. Films of different genres are eligible to enter the festival – animation, non-fiction, short fiction/feature fiction, experimental and student films.

L'Icon Festival di Fantascienza, Fantasy e Giochi di ruolo si svolge ogni anno a Tel-Aviv (Israele), e dura 3 giorni.
Il programma del festival prevede proiezioni di film, conferenze, panel, workshop, produzioni teatrali originali, l'occasionale marmellata di poesie e concorsi per il pubblico israeliano di fantascienza e fantasia che ama (o curioso) di godere.
Icon è prodotto da un gruppo di organizzazioni senza scopo di lucro. Montevideo Fantastic Film Festival è il primo festival uruguaiano dedicato alla promozione di produzioni cinematografiche nazionali e internazionali legate ai generi horror, fantasy e fantascienza. Il suo obiettivo è presentare ogni anno creazioni indipendenti e ultra indipendenti che sono spesso considerate «minori» e che difficilmente accedono ai circuiti commerciali e culturali.

Il Master of Art Film Festival è un evento culturale unico e l'unico festival cinematografico internazionale di documentari sull'arte nell'Europa orientale. Si svolge in Bulgaria: Sofia, Plovdiv e Varna.
Il festival si concentra su diversi approcci artistici all'arte.
Il suo programma è dedicato al cinema documentario che rappresenta la visione artistica sia sulla storia dell'arte, sulle forme d'arte contemporanea sia per celebrare la diversità multiculturale del nostro tempo.
Il nostro obiettivo è mostrare documentari che manifestino i talenti e il processo creativo nelle seguenti categorie:

I documentari usciti dopo il 1 gennaio 2024 sono idonei al concorso del Master of Art Film Festival.
La missione del Master of Art Film Festival è creare una piattaforma alternativa alla cultura di massa. Vogliamo creare un'opportunità e contribuire al dialogo e alla cooperazione tra artisti. Il festival è il più grande forum dell'Europa orientale per giovani registi di documentari, tentati di raccontare storie ispiratrici sull'arte.

Il SITGES - Festival Internazionale del Film Fantastico della Catalogna è un festival di genere fantastico specializzato e competitivo in conformità con i regolamenti stabiliti dalla FIAPF (Federazione internazionale delle associazioni di produttori cinematografici). Il Festival è stato anche dichiarato «Festival Qualificato» dall'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® negli Stati Uniti. Transterritorial Underground Film Festival — 22a edizione (2026)
Il Transterritorial Underground Film Festival è un evento annuale, autogestito e decentralizzato che, dal 2005, riunisce sedi e spazi espositivi in varie città dell'America Latina e di altri territori. La sua identità si basa sulla libera circolazione di opere audiovisive, sulla sperimentazione formale, sulla ricerca estetica e sulla visibilità di opere che rimangono al di fuori dei circuiti industriali o egemonici.
Il festival riceve ed espone produzioni audiovisive di ogni tipo: inedite, sperimentali, marginali, indipendenti, basate sulla comunità o semplicemente al di fuori della logica commerciale del cinema contemporaneo. Viene proiettato in spazi non convenzionali, comunitari, culturali e autogestiti, creando una rete transterritoriale che funge da strumento sociale, politico ed emotivo.
Migliaia di opere sono passate attraverso questa rete nel corso dei suoi vent'anni di storia, trasformando il rapporto tra registi, programmatori e spettatori. La 22a edizione continua questa ricerca, ampliando le modalità espositive e mantenendo un programma legato ai linguaggi emergenti, al rischio estetico e alle soggettività espresse ai margini.
Le opere selezionate possono essere proiettate in qualsiasi sede della rete, in proiezioni satellitari o in successivi cicli di viaggio, sempre in contesti non commerciali e con obiettivi culturali, educativi o comunitari.
Le sedi partecipanti nel 2025 includevano proiezioni a Tigre, Quilmes, Ituzaingó, Berazategui, Necochea, Pehuajó e CABA (Buenos Aires), Rio Cuarto (Córdoba), Rosario (Santa Fe) e Tucumán in Argentina; Pamplona e Medellín (Colombia), Punta del Diablo (Uruguay) e Berlino (Germania).
Il RIZOMA Festival Internacional de Cine & Cultura Entrelazada mira a celebrare opere rivoluzionarie sulla scena internazionale, a scoprire e sostenere nuove voci del cinema spagnolo e spagnolo e a fare eco alle tendenze audiovisive contemporanee. XII Festival di Corto-Gijón
Il Festival del cortometraggio di Gijón nasce nel 2015 come sezione parallela all'interno del Concorso nazionale di cortometraggi Aula 18 nell'ambito del programma After the sappearance of
festival emblematico, tre programmatori decidono di mantenere la propria essenza trasferendo il festival a Gijón. È alla seconda edizione, quella del 2016, dove il festival si trasferisce nei centri comunali della città per sviluppare un festival incentrato sui cortometraggi e sulla musica. Da allora alle sezioni competitive (Sezione ufficiale, Sezione delle Asturie) E alle sezioni campione (Panorama Asturias e Mirada FICX) ci sono stati concerti che hanno dato lustro agli spazi culturali della città e che sono serviti a mettere il culmine di ogni proiezione.
Nomi come Marilia, Pablo Und Destruktion, Marem Ladson, Tiger and Diamond, David Feito... confermano l'alto livello

Nel 2020 Laboral City of Culture si unisce a un nuovo schermo all'interno di CortoGijón, amplificando così le collaborazioni tra tutte le entità culturali della regione, iniziate nel 2017 con la sezione Mirada Ficx in collaborazione con il Festival del cinema di Gijón.
Siamo un festival che promuove con forza il cinema sociale indipendente, quel cinema che racconta storie di persone, luoghi, condizioni e situazioni comuni alla maggior parte dell'umanità. In altre parole, storie di carne e sangue, sensibili e vere.
D'altra parte, siamo convinti che il cinema sia lo strumento più importante di trasformazione sociale e culturale del mondo; e che i festival siano mezzi alternativi e vetrine espositive, la cui funzione specifica è l'interazione dinamica con il pubblico target, al fine di raggiungere livelli di profonda consapevolezza per quegli spettatori.
Pertanto, vogliamo presentarci a voi, registi, in modo formale e onesto, fingendo di essere considerati un ponte tra chi vede, interpreta e plasma la realtà in modo diverso e gli abitanti della nostra regione; una regione situata in Colombia, che ha urgente bisogno di ascoltare messaggi di social e speranza culturale attraverso l'arte, al fine di raggiungere la pace interiore e cambiamenti radicali nella loro vita.
IL ONE TAKE FILM FESTIVAL È UN FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE DI FILM GIRATI IN UN COLPO UNICO, CIOÈ FILM GIRATI SENZA INTERRUZIONI, DAL MOMENTO DELL'ACCENSIONE DELLA TELECAMERA AL MOMENTO DELLO SPEGNIMENTO DELLA TELECAMERA. IL FESTIVAL «ONE TAKE FILM» ELIMINA UNA PARTE APPARENTEMENTE INDISPENSABILE DI UN FILM - VALE A DIRE, L'EDITING - E QUINDI PROIBISCE IL TAGLIO, LA DISSOLVENZA, LA DISSOLVENZA IN/OUT E TUTTI GLI ALTRI TIPI DI TRANSIZIONI. IN QUESTO MODO, IL FESTIVAL «ONE TAKE FILM» FA SPAZIO A UN CONCETTO PIÙ STIMOLANTE DI CINEMA E DI PRODUZIONE CINEMATOGRAFICA PIÙ ESALTANTE. IL FESTIVAL ONE TAKE INCLUDE FILM DI QUASI OGNI GENERE NEL SUO PROGRAMMA (DOCUMENTARIO, FINZIONE, SPERIMENTALE, VIDEO MUSICALE E COMMERCIALE). IL TEMPO DI ESECUZIONE DEI FILM NON È LIMITATO. IL FESTIVAL «ONE TAKE FILM» SOTTOLINEA IN PRIMO LUOGO L'ATTO ESTETICO DEL CINEMA, E QUELLO «TAKE» È CONSIDERATO SOLO UN QUADRO DI IDEE, EMOZIONI, STORIE... PERCHÉ NON DOBBIAMO DIMENTICARE CHE MOLTO TEMPO FA I LAVORATORI AVEVANO LASCIATO LA FABBRICA DI LUMIERE ANCHE IN «ONE TAKE». QUINDI, NON SI DOVREBBE ESSERE AFFASCINATI DAL FATTO. IL FESTIVAL DEL FILM ONE TAKE, INSIEME AL CONCORSO UFFICIALE, OFFRE NUMEROSI ALTRI EVENTI - INTERESSANTE PROGRAMMA DI FILM AGGIUNTIVO, ANTEPRIME, CONFERENZE, TAVOLE ROTONDE, WORKSHOP CINEMATOGRAFICI, MOSTRE E, NATURALMENTE, BUON MOMENTO PER TUTTI. IL FESTIVAL «ONE TAKE FILM» È L'UNICO NEL SUO GENERE AL MONDO, E SI SVOLGE A ZAGABRIA. L'Associazione ColoriQuadri, al fine di promuovere cortometraggi, come occasione di intrattenimento e mezzo di comunicazione e sensibilizzazione sui temi sociali, organizza la nona edizione del «Muuh Film Festival». Sebbene la revisione sia essenzialmente «tema libero», sarà responsabilità dell'Associazione dei Proponenti, in linea con la propria «missione» statutaria, raccogliere e successivamente selezionare opere che esprimi/promuovano contenuti che rispettino i principi e i diritti costituzionali.

Thousands of filmmakers around the world submit their movies but only the best make it to a dedicated audience of diehard cinephiles who then compete to survive a 24 hours screening. Those who make it receive medals and get to vote for the Audience Award. The 2018 is taking place in Los Angeles.

Opting to go against primarily commercial interests, FRICINE's biggest prize is to give the public access to the debate on the main problems that the human being and it ecosystem face today.
FRICINE 2019 will highlight HUMOR,in its most diverse forms, for its extraordinary ability to stimulate us to disarm our fears and prejudices in search of a world more loving, healthy and just for all.
