Dear filmmakers,
Welcome to our page! We know how many festivals there are and how difficult it is to choose which ones to submit to. The following will hopefully help you learn more about our festival and decide if our festival is right for you.
As filmmakers, we organize a film festival that we would like to attend: simple and professional, humble with a zest of sparkle, in short a glamourous festival set in the country-side.
We are proud to say that EACH film is seen by three different people on our selection committee.
ALL films are treated the same. One quote is for ALL prices. You don't pay extra for extra attention.
Our editorial line has evolved: we no longer have a particular theme because this has caused us to miss some very good films. Some remaining eliminatory criteria rest: inaudible or bad sound, gratuitous violence or pornographic scenes...
We love ALL GENRES of storytelling: science fiction, fantasy films, romantic comedies, thrillers, dramas, crazy short films, young audience, animation and Documentaries
For the filmmakers present (2 per film), we offer a festival pass, breakfast + meal tickets, a 5-taster pass for the Saturday wine tasting, the famous Sunday brunch and a closing dinner with our volunteers after the festival.
We cannot cover accommodation costs (our site gives you addresses to help) or travel costs.
We are setting up one shuttle per day to and from Narbonne or Carcassonne stations. From Carcassonne, you can take a bus there are many going direct to Rieux Minervois.
For filmmakers coming from abroad, we have other arrangements (contact us at lechouettefestival@gmail.com)
Le chouette festival is located in Rieux Minervois, a small village in Aude, situated between Carcassonne and Narbonne, the festival takes place every year on the first weekend of October.
This year it runs from the 28th of September to the 4th of October 2026.

BAKUNAWA FEST is the first fantastic & genre-based film, art & music festival based in The Philippines and ran by volunteer filmmakers and artists. Bakunawa is a dragon-like creature in Philippine mythology that devoured moons. Because we are a genre-bending film fest, we want to flip the Bakunawa's role and we want it to instead symbolize the creative monsters inside us.
Because we've had a rough and tough year in 2024, our 11th and 12th editions were held this year 2025 had a very successful run, screening all our 95 selected films in physical venues starting in August 2025 and stretching up to December 2025 for the 12th edition. Bakunawa Fest runs annually in one season - spread in fourth months becoming a hybrid festival since the pandemic lockdowns.
Bakunawa was initially created with this principle: "new visions, new voices". We still stand by this principle as we continue to program young and young at heart promising filmmakers, artists & musicians who either have no access to expensive workshops and may not have the name recognition to be programmed in festivals. Since our third edition, we have included a section that screens curated local and international selected films mainly for educational purposes. Most of our Bakunawa Fest's film camps are done as outreach programs/workshops and are mostly free. Here our participants are scholars paid for by the festival and its partners usually hosted by different cities/municipalities in the Philippines.
[ Please note that, since we are an artist and volunteer-ran filmfest, we can't fund filmmakers to come physically and we don't pay screening fees. ]
We are a fantastic film fest. Our festival is interested in: Horror or Thriller Films / Sci-Fi, Fantasy or Adventure / Fantastic-themed Experimental Films, New Media, Expanded Cinema / Genre-Bending Films / Fantastic-themed Music Videos / Fantastic-themed Documentaries / Contemporary Art / Photography.

The Athens Marathon International Film Festival (A.M.I.F.F.) is more than a cinematic event; it is a celebration of independent cinema that connects Athens with the world. In the historic and vibrant city that gave birth to the Marathon, the festival brings together creators and audiences, offering a platform for bold, authentic, and artistically pioneering voices.
Founded by the non profit cultural and educational organization “THE BASEMENT”, its mission from the very beginning has been to highlight films distinguished by originality, atmosphere, and the power of storytelling.
From its 8th edition onward, A.M.I.F.F. has evolved into a monthly competition with an annual event, giving filmmakers more opportunities for recognition and audiences more moments of cinematic experience.
Each month, the jury selects winners, honorable mentions, and finalists, who receive electronic award certificates. The best short films (international or Greek short), at the jury’s discretion, qualify for the annual festival in Athens, where they compete for the Film of the Year Award and the Audience Award, through live screenings attended by both jury and audience.
The festival offers:
• Low submission fees, among the most affordable in Europe.
• Free admission to screenings, ensuring participation by a wide and diverse audience.
• IMDb listing for all awarded and nominated films.
• The opportunity for filmmakers to acquire the handcrafted Owl Trophy, a unique work of art symbolizing the wisdom and spirit of the festival.
Beyond Athens, A.M.I.F.F. travels: through the initiative “The Festival Travels”, selected films are screened in communities across Greece — from mountain villages to coastal towns — in open air screenings and local events. In this way, the festival acts as a cultural and educational institution, bringing independent cinema to communities that often lack access to such experiences.
The Athens Marathon International Film Festival is an official holder of the EFFE Label from the European Festivals Association (EFA), a recognition that confirms its artistic excellence, community engagement, and international outlook. In previous editions, the festival was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, further strengthening its institutional character.
After the success of the previous editions, sealed by the presence of the art director Roberto Faenza, Giuseppe Piccioni, Marco Risi, Ettore Scola, Alessandro Haber, Alessandro D’Alatri, Giò Giò Franchini, Mimmo Calopresti, Daniele Luchetti , Marina Confalone, Cristina Donadio, Marco Mario de Notaris, Guido Lombardi, Nunzia Schiano, Nandp Paone, and Enzo Decaro as chairpersons of the jury, Ignazio Senatore, psychiatrist and film critic, will conduct the annual Festival of Short Films “I Corti sul lettino – Cinema e Psicoanalisi” aimed at Italian and foreign filmmakers. This festival is reported on IMDB.
Experimental films are more than welcome: our festival encourages innovation and transgressing of format, genres, political and aesthetic borders. We are especially receptive of video-art and dance films, as well as animation and documentaries, considering it necessary for artists to have adequate spaces for the exhibition and critique of their work, outside commercial circuits and other formal demands that may limit creative exploration of contemporary languages.
We are also interested in films exploring the subject of frontiers. Táchira is located in the border of Venezuela with Colombia, and this has traditionally been the most active geo political limit in Latin America, but in the last five years activity has been more than unusual, deserving many different views to be displayed. The story of this and other borders from around the world may be valuable contributions to our festival, which encourages reflective discussion as well as aesthetic enjoyment of all works presented.
