The first Zacatlán International Film Festival, in one of Mexico's most beautiful magical towns, invites all filmmakers interested in sharing their creations with us—and, why not, stay and film? We'll be hosting screenings of submitted works in movie theaters, film clubs, art galleries, and schools.
About the festival
If we had to define Facom Fest in a single phrase, as a tagline, it would be: “A Galician festival for students”. This leaves us with two main focuses of interest: on the one hand, our unwavering commitment to promoting Galician projects; and, on the other hand, the emphasis on “students”. Unlike previous editions, this 4th edition aims to give visibility not only to works created by Galician students, but also by students from any region of the world. We believe that our condition as students is vital for establishing dialogues and debates, identifying common or divergent points, and above all, learning. Even though we are still in training, this international initiative aspires to give us the ability to teach — this time, we, the global student body, to our peers. To share experiences, visions, techniques, and, who knows, perhaps contacts. Following the spirit of previous editions, we understand that many works created during one’s academic formation deserve to have a life of their own — to be seen, discussed, and to reach beyond borders, which often seems difficult when entering the professional world.
Thus, in this new edition we offer the opportunity for all students currently enrolled, or who have completed their studies in the previous year, in any university or educational institution at any level, anywhere in the world, to submit their works to the festival.
This new edition, Facom Fest 2025, will take place from November 24th to 27th, 2025, in Santiago de Compostela.
**This is not just another film festival. This is a statement.**
The Berlin International Underground Film Festival (BIUFF) is a movement, launching with a clear and powerful mission: to build a **true ecosystem** of support for independent and defiant voices. We are not here to sell awards; we are here to **discover talent and build futures**.
**Our Mission: Discovered in Berlin**
We are based in Berlin, a city where art sprouts from concrete and defiance is in its DNA, because we believe that true cinema is not manufactured—it is **discovered**. BIUFF is a global platform for all independent creators—filmmakers, screenwriters, and photographers who dare to be different. We are looking for personal stories, bold perspectives, and artistic honesty.
**The "4U" Philosophy**
At the heart of our festival lies an award that transcends all categories: **The Grand Prize, our "4U" Trophy**. This ultimate honor is bestowed upon only one work per edition that powerfully embodies all four of our foundational principles:
- **Uncensored**
- **Uncompromising**
- **Unconventional**
- **Unbound**
**Our Model: Hybrid & Supportive**
BIUFF is more than just a competition; it is a **hybrid festival** and a true connection point. While our initial judging is conducted online, the journey culminates in a **live screening and awards event in the heart of Berlin**.
And in our deep commitment to supporting you, we've simplified the process: **with one single entry, your project is automatically considered for all relevant awards.** This is your chance to connect with a network of like-minded professionals from around the globe, supported by the Kariz Creative Hub.
**Honoring the Unsung Heroes**
Finally, we proudly honor the true architects of defiant cinema. For the first time, a major international award will be dedicated to the **Line Producers and Production Managers** who, with the art of resistance, make the impossible possible.
In a digital landscape saturated with soulless competitions and hollow laurels, we rise on a different foundation: **authenticity**.
**Join us. Submit your work to the beating heart of European independent cinema and show your voice to the world.**

Each year, our festival takes place in Paris during the springtime, which is not only a beautiful season but also an exciting time of year for ÉCU, because that is when we showcase roughly around 60 of the World’s very best independent films. Although ÉCU emphasises European talent, it also recognises the genius of international filmmakers with several categories allocated to non-European films.
The next ÉCU, the 21st edition, will take place on April, 2026 in Paris, France.
ÉCU isn’t just about screening an amazing slate of films over its three-day event in Paris. There are also professional workshops led by experts in the industry, Q&A’s held with the attending filmmakers after every screening session and a chance to network with fellow filmmakers, producers, agents, industry representatives, prospective film buyers and, of course, the cinema-loving public. At ÉCU, there is a dialogue focusing on celebrating but also critiquing the world’s best indie cinema of today.
Though ÉCU’s main event IS the three-day festival in Paris each spring, there is even more! Thanks to our 50+ partner festivals, partner organisations, film centres and film commissions, ÉCU goes on an annual world tour called ÉCU-On-The-Road. This gives award-winning films (as well as many of the Official Selection films) the opportunity for their films to reach a broader, global, international audience.
ÉCU-On-The-Road showcased films in over 80 countries around the globe in 2016 to 2025 at special ÉCU mini-festivals, partner festivals, cultural institutions and film schools, including an amazing seven day special festival in São Paulo, Brazil. The event was made possible through the support of Caixa Cultural, São Paulo and was a huge success. ÉCU also held special events in Berlin (Germany), Atami (Japan) and was part of festivals in Lebanon, Italy, Russia, USA, Romania, Austria, Denmark and other countries. This gives ÉCU filmmakers great exposure to audiences that they may never have reached otherwise.
Since 2006, ÉCU has helped the careers of hundreds of independent filmmakers, actors, DPs, editors, screenwriters and we are honoured to give aspiring film directors the chance for their voices to be seen and heard.
Above all, we are proud to be a filmmakers’ festival!
The word AURA has two meanings: it’s the atmosphere and the wind blowing. The name of the film festival was inspired by both of these definitions. Our film festival is an atmosphere of creativity, celebration and art. A whiff of wind is the wind of change and the point of films, as well as the wind from the seas, near which the cities of film screenings are located (the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Sea of Azov).
The screening sessions of the films of the film festival are held in three cities at once. In the south it is Sochi and Rostov-on-Don, and in the Northwest it is the cultural city of St. Petersburg. Film screenings take place in cultural and youth centers, both indoors and outdoors.
We screen both fiction films, documentaries and animated films, as well as social videos from around the world. In addition, there is a competition of posters and photo projects.
Viewers of different ages attend our film festival. After the screenings, there is a discussion with the creators and organizers of the festival.
On the last day of the film festival, an award ceremony will be held, where statuettes, diplomas and gifts from partners will be presented to the winners of the film festival.
AURA Film Festival is a review competition of films received evaluation by the Selection Committee.
The Festival’s aim is to support cinematographers and to contribute to the development and promotion of film industries.
The film festival focuses on a variety of themes and genres.
It is a strong advocate for social change, and encourages cultural diversity and understanding between nations.
We are also including and actively supporting not only the finest examples of classic moviemaking, but works that are experimental, breaking ground in new non-narrative forms and crossing over into the video arts. All films will be reviewed as they are submitted, and the best in each category will be chosen to screen at the festival. Semi-finalist films will not be screened but will receive our festival laurels.
The final decision on the inclusion of the film in the Festival competition program is made by the Selection Committee which reserves the right not to explain the reason for the refusal and not to give any comment.
The winners are chosen by the organizing committee of the film festival.
