FanCineGay, the International LGBT Film Festival of Extremadura, celebrates this year its 24rd edition between the 6th and the 14th of November launching its traditional Short Films Call with the purpose of recognising, visibilising and fostering the production and dissemination of recent or unreleased LGBTI works.

There will be two prizes of € 350 in cash for the Best Short Film and for the Best Documentary Short Film, which will be awarded after the end of the festival.

The short films will be eligible for other prizes which will be announced at a later date (prizes in our extensions or from our sponsors).

THEME AND duration. The short films must approach a lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersexual or queer theme being accepted all the genres (fiction, documentary, experimental, video art) under the duration of thirty (30) minutes. All the works from any country produced and released along 2019, 2020 and 2021 will be accepted.

deadline FOR SUBMISSION. The deadline for submission is on the 30th of July 2021 at 23:59 (UTC +2: CEST, Madrid) with no possibility of postponement.

MATERIALS DELIVERY. The short films will be sent online (with embedded subtitles in Spanish if the short film is in another language) after filling in the entry form, providing a viewing link (Vimeo, YouTube or similar) and password, and sending the required materials to the address or attaching them to the form:

- Promotional poster of the short film.
- Trailer with embedded subtitles in Spanish when the language is another. (Optional)
- Screenshots or photographs of the short film.
- Photograph and biography of the directors.

In order to submit several short films, it will be compulsory to fill in a different form for each entry. Entries can also be made through the FestHome platform by clicking on the links on the website.

Registration through any of these three platforms excludes the submission of works through any of the others, unless explicitly requested by the management.

FORMATS. The accepted formats for screening are AVI, MP4 H.264, MOV PRORES 422, with a minimum resolution of 1920 per 1080 pixels (Full HD).

PRE-SELECTION. The festival reserves the right to reject any work that does not meet the minimum technical quality standards or that does not approach the themes of the call in a sufficiently clear manner within any of its plots or subplots as well as those submitted in former calls.

The registration will be confirmed via email after verifying the correct filling of the forms and that the extra materials have been sent.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION. A jury formed by specialists in Audiovisual Communications, Culture Management and LGBTI Activism will select among all the works submitted a sample that will be included in the schedule of the festival as well as the Best Short Film and and the best documentary short film of the 24nd FanCineGay.

The authors of the works selected will be notified before October the 5th, 2021 via email in the address provided in the submission form. FanCineGay will not notify the works that have not been selected, making public the list of those that have been. The authors of the selected works will only be allowed to communicate their selection publicly or make any kind of dissemination about their participation in FanCineGay once the festival had previously announced it via its official channels.

PROMOTION. Extracts of the titles selected might be used with promotional purposes for their broadcasting via TV or dissemination via other media, as well as the rest of the materials provided. The organisation of festival must be informed in writing of any restriction that the selected works could have in this respect.

RESPONSIBILITIES. The festival does not assume any responsibility in case of deterioration or loss of the materials during their transportation and exhibition. Neither it will be responsible for the possible infractions related to copyrights, taking responsibility for it the person who submits the work.

The submission of works implies the full acceptance of the terms of the call as well as the decisions of the organisation before unexpected events typical of this activity.
