We are pleased to announce the call for submissions for the 3rd edition of the Kreyol International Film Festival (KIFF), which will take place from September 26 to 30, 2025, in Paris.

This unique, general-interest festival is committed to combining singularity and universality, showcasing the richness and diversity of visions and talents of artists.

It celebrates and highlights the cultures, histories, philosophies, environments, and languages of the Creole Worlds.

It provides an opportunity for cinematic works that rarely have the chance to be screened in theaters in mainland France.

Who Can Participate

KIFF is open to all filmmakers, regardless of origin or nationality, whether they are Creole speakers or not.

Your film is welcome if it explores, either directly or metaphorically, themes related to the Creole Worlds and reflects the authenticity and depth of these cultures.

Whether you are an established or emerging director, we invite you to share your vision and voice through your art.

Locations and perspectives

We warmly welcome films shot in any region of the world, but particular attention will be given to works produced and filmed in Creole-speaking regions. Whether your films are rooted in traditional narratives or explore contemporary or dystopian perspectives, your contribution is vital to enrich the dialogue and understanding of Creole cultures.

Diversity of characters

We also encourage the participation of films where the main and secondary characters are of Creole origin, thus highlighting the diversity of the communities.

A stage for Creole voices and beyond

The Kreyol International Film Festival celebrates the global reach of Creole cultures and its 127 Creole languages of various lexical bases (French, English, Portuguese, Dutch, etc.). Particular attention will be given to films in original Creole language – with subtitles – but this is not an exclusive condition. All languages are welcome.

Why participate?

The Kreyol International Film Festival is an exceptional platform to showcase your work, network with film professionals from around the world, and be part of an event that celebrates cultural diversity and richness. It's a unique opportunity to make your creation shine and contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of Creole cultures.

On November 29, 1974, the DINA arrested Carmen Bueno and Jorge Müller after the premiere of the film "A la sombra del sol". Ten years later, Chilean filmmakers organized to commemorate that day as Chilean Film Day, a date that was distorted with the arrival of democracy, since the large exhibition chains saw a business opportunity, relegating the true meaning of the date. From 2010 onwards, university attempts and the Museum of Memory began to retake the true meaning of the day of Chilean cinema, with almost the only venue being the Metropolitan region. 50 years after the civil-military coup d'état, the Municipality of Valparaíso decided to commemorate November 29 by showing the film "El Realismo Socialista" by Ruiz-Sarmiento, with photography by Jorge Müller.

This year 2024 marks 50 years since the disappearance of the filmmaker couple, the same year that the audiovisual table is created and in this sense, is that we seek to enhance from a regional processes of vindication of our historical memory, linking our audiovisual work to the community in our territories.

Welcome to our Winter Season that runs Monthly from January thru March 2025.

NewFilmmakers NY is New York's longest running year round Film Festival. Throughout it's twenty-eight year run NewFilmmakers has provided a platform for first time and veteran filmmakers.

We have taken an exciting new direction with NewFilmmakers called NewFilmmakersPlus which will move our festival into the digital age and allow us to reach international audiences.

While theaters have been closed, our online audiences have greatly exceeded those in theaters. With NewFilmmakers Plus we have added the missing audience participation to our online screenings.

Now filmmakers, cast, and crew as well as audience members can create interactive video screening rooms while watching a film. Just by pushing the START A GROUPVIEW button to the right of the film they can invite up to six people to talk about the film in a video conference. It’s almost like watching side-by-side in real life — without having to share your popcorn.

In addition our films will now be available for two weeks and screenable any time of the day instead of only one night. This allows more people to see our films and makes it easier to set up a screening event with friends and colleagues. As requested we are switching to filmmaker hosted files utilizing unlisted YouTube links which will eliminate the need to transcode and to send us large files as well as giving filmmakers control over their film.

In today’s world online screenings give filmmakers worldwide audiences instead of limited local ones. With NewFilmmakers Plus filmmakers not only reach worldwide audiences but can interact with them as they would at a traditional theater.
