Festival start: 12 November 2020      Festival end: 22 November 2020

FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH has been one of the most important festivals for young filmmakers worldwide since 1981. Each year, it offers young filmmakers from all over the world a platform for presenting their own short films and exchanging ideas about filmmaking. The short fiction, documentary, and animated films are screened in international competition and compete for valuable prizes, which are awarded by an independent festival jury. Diana Iljine has been the festival’s director since 2011.

In addition, FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH presents the highly lucrative Climate Clips Award, given to clips that deal with sustainability and climate change.

UPDATE: FILMSCHOOLFEST 2020 goes online – with its 39½ edition! The 40th anniversary will be duly made up for next year. Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our festival guests, visitors, and employees. That is why this year’s festival will take place completely online. As a film festival, we are very much looking forward to breaking new ground in the digital space. But most of all, we are looking forward to a unique film program that will present the best student short films from all over the world to an even wider audience!

International Short Film Competition at FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH
Films may be submitted only by festival coordinators at the respective institutions of higher education, not by the students themselves. Each institution may submit films with a combined maximum runtime of 70 minutes. Eligible are training and graduation films completed in 2019 or 2020 with a maximum running time of 30 min.

CLIMATE CLIPS AWARD at FILMSCHOOLFEST MUNICH
